Coven Rank Structure

Rank 1 — Hangaround
Begins as an outside observer granted minimal access. Their purpose is to watch quietly, learn correct etiquette, and determine whether the Coven’s principles resonate. Though not yet a full member, they are encouraged to show curiosity, respect, and a willingness to grow. They hold no responsibilities but are expected to demonstrate alignment with the Coven’s commitment to learning and integrity.
Rank 2 — Initiate
A newly accepted member who formally enters the path of magical study. Their primary task is to learn: absorbing foundational teachings, understanding rituals, and developing personal discipline. Initiates begin practicing the Coven’s ethic of helping others through small acts of support, while also learning the values that define the Terra Incognita lineage.
Rank 3 — Probationary Acolyte
A developing practitioner who now takes on supervised tasks. They deepen their understanding of magical theory and spiritual development while demonstrating emotional maturity and reliability. At this stage, helping others becomes an expectation, not an option. Probationary Acolytes begin applying their emerging knowledge in constructive ways and are evaluated on whether they uphold the tradition with sincerity.
Rank 4 — Acolyte
A stable, trusted member actively pursuing magical learning and personal refinement. Acolytes study rituals with greater depth, assist others in the community, and embody the spirit of mutual upliftment. They begin participating in group rituals and learn how to use their growing knowledge for positive influence beyond the Coven. They serve as examples of proper behavior and respect for the lineage.
Rank 5 — Adept
A skilled practitioner who has demonstrated consistent effort, wisdom, and emotional stability. Adepts help guide newer members, provide support on spiritual and practical levels, and begin contributing to the Coven’s collective knowledge. Their magic is no longer only personal—now it is used consciously to improve their environment and support the Coven’s mission in the world.
Rank 6 — Senior Adept
An advanced student who combines deep magical knowledge with strong interpersonal responsibility. Senior Adepts are role models for the community and assist in teaching, assisting, and grounding others emotionally. They help uphold structure, settle misunderstandings, and maintain the refinement of the lineage. Their work outside the Coven begins to carry greater influence, with the expectation to uplift others through wisdom and service.
Rank 7 — Custodian
A guardian of the Coven’s standards, traditions, and unity. Custodians actively ensure that teachings are preserved correctly and that members follow the Coven’s principles. They provide material, emotional, and spiritual support to those in need and help guide group energy. Custodians are responsible for safeguarding the Terra Incognita lineage and ensuring its values are transmitted faithfully to future generations.
Rank 8 — Councilor
A senior leader entrusted with structural, educational, and ethical decisions. Councilors help guide the strategy, direction, and expansion of the Coven. They mentor Adepts and Acolytes, assist in designing coursework, resolve complex issues, and ensure that the Coven’s purpose—to learn, uplift, and serve the world—is upheld. Councilors represent the Coven’s wisdom both internally and externally.
Rank 9 — Master
A high authority responsible for the inner integrity of the Coven. Masters oversee initiations, correct deviations, refine teachings, and preserve the advanced knowledge of the lineage. They carry the responsibility to help all members grow—spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually. Masters also use their knowledge to enact meaningful changes in the world, embodying the Coven’s mission at the highest level of expertise.
Rank 10 — Headmaster
The pinnacle of leadership and the living embodiment of the Coven’s tradition. The Headmaster safeguards the doctrine, lineage, standards, and spiritual direction of Terra Incognita. They ensure that all four purposes of the Coven remain alive: deep learning, service to others, improvement of the world, and protection of the tradition. Their guidance shapes the destiny of the Coven and the generations that follow.
