Understanding Reiki and Spiritual Healing

For those new to these concepts, Reiki is a Japanese tradition that dates back to the early 20th century. The word translates roughly to "universal life energy." Practitioners believe that by placing hands lightly on or just above the body, they can act as a conduit for benevolent energy, helping to clear blockages and restore the natural flow within the recipient’s energy field. It is a non-denominational, gentle practice that is used worldwide to promote relaxation and reduce stress.

Spiritual healing, in a broader sense, refers to the practice of addressing the non-physical aspects of a person’s life. It is rooted in the belief that true wellness involves a harmonious connection between the physical body and the spirit. In this practice, the work is always collaborative and respectful, aiming to empower the individual rather than offering a "fix." It is a complementary approach that sits alongside conventional care to support the whole person.
